Dr. Hawat has over 25 years professional experience in study and design high-performance systems, fault tolerant on multiple platforms and developing innovative solutions to scientific problems that range from control to remote sensing and broad-bandwidth spectral processing. He has had the opportunity to participate on many significant international projects in system design, development and sensor calibrations for atmospheric measurements of space and ground instruments. Research interests include the design of electro-optical instrumentation applied to atmospheric spectroscopy and radiometry, for Absolute Solar Measurements, design and service of six ground stations deployed around the globe and stretched from the Arctic to the Antarctic.
As part of this research, he worked on the calibration of space sensors for the validation of a new generation of Earth Observing Satellites. Very high resolution (0.00185 cm-1) infrared spectra are used in the quantification of several new molecules, as well as the analysis of atmospheric trace constituents. Direct critical technology efforts include designing and supporting production and development environments, performance tuning and optimization, system monitoring and balancing.
Additionally, Dr. Hawat provides contract review, resource management, and peer review, with a portfolio of more 45 Internationally published papers in system control as well as to study the impact on atmosphere and natural resources, as well as the design of innovative system in the renewable energy arena, including research programs funded by NASA, DoE, NOAA, ARM, CNES, CNRS, NICT, JAXA, INTA, and NDACC
