Egypt: Changes to the new Egyptian renewable energy tenders announced earlier in August

With reference to the three new tenders for the development of a total of 500MW wind and solar capacity on a Build, Own and Operate (BOO) basis in the West Nile Area, announced by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and the New and Renewable Energy Authority (NREA) on 11 August 2015, EETC has now issued an update to the tender requirements for the solar PV and CSP projects.

Tender no. 14/2015/2016 for a total installed PV capacity of 200MW

The Request for Pre-Qualification (RFPQ) may be obtained from EETC as of Sunday, 30 August 2015 for EUR 2,000 (down from EUR 4,000) to be paid in cash or by cheque. The previous experience in implementing three PV power plants with a minimum capacity of 50MW each remains required. The pre-qualification documents prepared in response to the RFPQ must be submitted to EETC no later than on Monday, 12 October 2015 (rather than 02 November 2015) at 12:00. The EUR 4 million bid bond which was originally requested is now not required anymore. EETC will send the Request for Proposals (RFP) to the short-listed developers inviting them to submit their proposals for the project upon evaluation of the RFPQ documents.

The RFPQ may be obtained from EETC as of Sunday, 06 September 2015 for EUR 2,000 (down from EUR 3,000) to be paid in cash or by cheque. The previous experience in implementing at least three CSP power plants with a total capacity of 30MW remains required. The pre-qualification documents prepared in response to the RFPQ must be submitted to EETC no later than on, Monday 19 October 2015 (rather than 16 November 2015) at 12:00. The EUR 1 million bid bond which was originally requested is now not required anymore.
